Description
Back to School is the perfect time to start making inferences, and these centers are the MOST ENGAGING way to do it! In this set of Back to School inference centers students will become investigators tasked with figuring out who is the teacher for a group of 4th grade students!
What is this set of Back to School inference centers all about?
The 4th grade students at Silver Lane Elementary school will all be getting new teachers this year, and they’re anxious to know whose class they will be in. However, the fourth-grade teachers are tricksters! Instead of sending a normal letter telling the students that they are their teachers, they sent clues! It’s up to you to figure out who each student’s teacher is!
How do I set up these inference centers in my classroom?
There isn’t too much to prepare when setting up these centers, I promise! If you’re planning to use them year after year (and you’ll want to, I just know it!) many pieces can be printed and laminated for reuse.
You will prepare 6 reusable stations (1 for each of the teachers students are investigating), each with a set of clues.
Each student will need a set of printable sheets to record their inferences about each teacher and a printable introduction booklet that ‘sets the scene’ for the whole investigation!
What is included in this Back to School inference center resource?
- Detailed teacher instructions
- 6 printable inference stations where students will ‘investigate’ 6 different 4th grade teachers and make inferences!
- Suggested Answers
- Printable Introduction Booklet (also available as a full-color version to laminate and reuse)
- A DIGITAL, Google Slides version of the entire activity!
I am always on the hunt for engaging resources that help our students practice their inference skills… without them even realizing it! That’s where this center-based activity was born. I just know your students will love this activity as well.
