How to use this resource:
There are five parts to each podcast resource.
-
Podcast Recording: I highly encourage you to have students listen to the podcast with AND without the transcript in front of them.
-
Podcast Transcript: Includes a full transcript as well as annotation tasks.
-
Blank Show Notes: A template for students to identify the main sections and details. Use this to take notes during the podcast and review the main idea and details. This is an excellent area to practice paraphrasing. I always let students use their transcripts to help fill out the show notes.
-
Completed Show Notes: These show notes include timestamps. You can use them to check student show notes and as a reference for students. You can also have students use the show notes and have them find text evidence in the transcript to support the show notes.
-
Comprehension Page: Includes a variety of comprehension tasks related to the podcast.
Accessing the Podcasts:
You have multiple options for accessing the videos and audio recordings.
-
Downloadable File: Inside the Zip folder, you will find both audio and video versions of the podcasts. Please note: this is a static video with one cover image throughout the podcast.
-
Google Drive: All files are accessible via Google Drive. You can download them directly from the folders, save them to your Drive, or attach them to a Google Classroom assignment.
-
Website Access: All of the videos are also available via my website for easy viewing from any location with Internet Access.
While these meet a wide variety of informational text reading standards, they also meet several speaking and listening standards.
