My students have been BEGGING for more of this book and the activity that goes with it!! They are GLUED to the tales and love trying to interpret them.

Each of these ten word tales is sliiiiiightly unsettling and unusual and REALLY makes kids think through the possibilities! I shared several with my students, and they were obsessed with them!

Then, I had them write their own 10 word tales (harder than it seems!). Since the illustrations add so much to the story, I had the kids SWITCH tales and illustrate their partner’s tales. They LOVED this part and seeing how their meaning was interpreted by their illustrator!

They begged so much to do this again that I obliged, and that STILL wasn’t enough! 😂

Disclaimer: Some of the tales really are odd and a little unsettling, so preview them ahead of time — I recommend this one for the older (3rd grade+) crowd! 💕

We’re down to our last three weeks of school! 😮 🤩 I’m trying to get ahead in life (is that even possible?!) so I’ve started selecting the perfect award for each of my students. There are over 130 options, and using autofill has saved me SO much time. 🥰

I’ve been sharing about success stickers for years, and while my students still love them (and get to choose between a sticker or animal!), I noticed this trend of kids collecting these tiny acrylic animals. I decided Accomplishment Animals should be a thing, and they love, love, love it. 🥰

Each week, students share a success (or accomplishment!) with me. It can be anything — inside or out of school, big or small. We chat about it for less than a minute, and they pick a sticker or tiny animal as a reminder of all the successes they’ve had. It’s such an easy way to connect with students, and I’ve learned so much about each of them!

Oh, just over here causing some classroom chaos wi $Oh, just over here causing some classroom chaos with this fraction lesson. 😂🤗 Huge shout out to Meg from @theteacherstudio for this one… I give each child a slip of paper with this figure (so they can’t say my drawing isn’t perfect as their justification 😂) and they have to silently write their answer and justification. Then I tally up the answers and have students take a side and DEBATE with their reasoning! It’s an AMAZING conversation, and I highly recommend trying it with your students.$

I’ve got to share one of my absolute favorite morning meetings connection activities—it’s super easy to set up and seriously one of the most meaningful things I’ve done with my students. I’ve been doing this for years and LOVE the reflections that come from it. 💕💕
 ✨ I pulled a bunch of picture books and spread them out for students to look through. The twist? They weren’t picking a book to read—they were picking a cover and title that represented them somehow. Maybe how they were feeling, or something about their personality.

The things they shared? I was not ready. I almost cried—not because it was sad, but because their answers were so thoughtful and real. It honestly blew me away.

Tomorrow is the 113th anniversary of the loss of the Titanic. 🚢 Every year, learning about her story is one of my students’ favorite units. Even if you only have half an hour to devote to her story, it’s worth it!
