Suffixes Task Cards

Are you learning about suffixes? Your students will be so engaged with practicing identifying and determining the meaning of common suffixes using these half-page suffixes task cards.

These 16 half-page task cards each have three groups of sentences that use a common root word that requires different suffixes for each sentence group. Students will then determine which word (and suffix) best fills in the blank. In addition, I have my students identify the suffix and a general meaning of the suffix based on the context.

These task cards have been specially designed to encourage critical thinking about common suffixes and to encourage students to use context clues to determine the meanings of common suffixes.

These task cards also have a DIGITAL version in Google Slides. There is one card per slide, so you can assign as many or as few at a time as you'd like.

Note: These are not your typical multiple-choice task cards! They have been designed to encourage critical thinking and to help you teach, reinforce, and enrich your suffix unit at a higher level. These are best suited for grades 4+.
